No bin, more mess
Most dog owners bag it already. Without a bin nearby, those bags end up hung on fences, dropped in hedges or left on the verge.
Hillingdon is removing every dog waste bin in the borough from January 2027. Ickenham's about to have a bigger problem on its pavements, and we'd rather not step in it. Let's keep our bins, together.
On 22 October Hillingdon Council confirmed it will take away every dog waste bin in the borough. We get it: budgets are tight and tough choices have to be made. So we're stepping in.

Ask Hillingdon Council to hand Ickenham's existing bins over to the community, then keep them emptied and looked after with help from residents, local businesses and volunteers.
We aren't collecting any money yet. If enough households say they'd chip in, we'll set up a proper community group and do it properly.
Replacing all of Ickenham's bins would cost somewhere around £15,000. Taking out perfectly good bins only for us to buy new ones for the same spots seems utterly pointless. We're asking the council to hand them over to the community instead, and every pledge makes that case stronger.
Tell us what you'd be happy to give each month. It's a promise, not a payment. Once we know there's enough support and what the bins really cost, we'll get in touch.
Donations go to the community group's own bank account and pay for emptying, liners and repairs. Accounts are published every year.
Every dog bin in Ickenham, mapped by the people who walk past them. Spotted one we're missing? Add it below.

Tap the map where the bin is, or use your location if you're standing next to it. A photo helps us check it's a dog bin and not a very small postbox.
New bins appear on the map once we've checked them.
Sponsor a bin for a year as a household, a street or a local business. You get to name it, and it gets a big sticker with your name on it and a QR code, so every dog walker who scans it sees who's keeping Ickenham clean.
Money keeps the bins emptied. People keep the scheme running. The letters, the money, the negotiating and the record-keeping are already in hand, so these are the roles we still need volunteers for. No experience needed, just enthusiasm and a strong stomach. Pick as many as you like.
Bin There, Dung That covers the Ickenham ward only. Pledges, sponsorships and volunteers on this page are all for Ickenham's bins.
But every ward in Hillingdon is losing its bins, and we'd love to help. If yours has the same problem, we'll set up a copy of this page just for your ward, with its own bin map, pledges and roster, and share everything we've learned along the way.
The one thing we can't supply is a local leader: someone in your ward who'll manage it and drive it forward. Could that be you?

Sign the official petition. It takes a minute and it tells Hillingdon that Ickenham cares.
We're getting quotes from local waste firms and asking whether the council would offer a paid collection. We'll publish the real cost per bin before anyone pays a penny.
A large sticker on the bin with your business name and a QR code. Scanning it opens that bin on this site with your name beside it. It's cheap, local advertising that dog walkers see every single day.
Mostly emptying, liners and repairs. A small slice (a few hundred pounds a year) covers the boring bits that keep the group running: the website address, email accounts, payment fees and insurance. Accounts will be published every year by a properly constituted not-for-profit community group, so you can see every penny.
It stays in the pot. Once a year, everyone who chips in gets a vote on how the extra is spent: more bins, more bags, or something else that keeps Ickenham clean.
Replacing all of Ickenham's bins would cost somewhere around £15,000. Pulling out perfectly good bins only for us to buy new ones to put in the same spots seems utterly pointless, so we're asking the council to leave them where they are and hand them over to us.
It was. We'd love them to reconsider. But January is close, so we're planning for the bins to stay either way.
This campaign only covers the Ickenham ward, but we're happy to help other Hillingdon wards do the same. We'll set up a copy of this page for your ward if someone local will lead it. Put your hand up here.
